Alice is an experienced performer and loves sharing her music with an audience. Equally at home at a classical music concert or enjoying the fun of folk festivals, one of her favourite engagements is leading the St Aidan’s procession around Holy Island, close to her family home. Alice had played at many weddings and community gatherings; if you would like her to pipe at an event, please contact her for further details.
Alice studied at St Mary’s Music school, Edinburgh, for 8 years—she was the first Northumbrian Pipe player or folk instrumentalist to study at a music school, though she has subsequently become an experienced classical musician, gaining a clarinet scholarship at the Royal Northern College of Music last year (which she didn’t take). She now reads music at the University of York where she studies academic music, clarinet, bass clarinet and early clarinet, as well as continuing to develop her pipe playing. Alice hopes to encourage many more people to learn to play the Northumbrian Smallpipes and is available to teach in the York area or from her North Northumbrian home. Please contact Alice for further details.
